Kalina Karbowski.

 

Kalina Karbowski is a Hispanic artist originally from San Jose, California and currently based in Las Vegas, NV. Her artistic goals center on storytelling and forging deep connections with her audience - emotionally, spiritually or physically. In this piece, she explores a scene of an ethereal human, the "Gatherer of Stories," woven in numerous colorful ribbons that don't bind her, but orbit around her in a pleasant-like manner.

​Wanting to draw from calling numerous places her home and having family all over the world, this piece illustrates the colorful shared experiences and stories we all inherently have in the Human Story, despite our predispositions or personal perspectives. The vibrant sunset with fantastical elements -- a common theme within her work -- is one of the many ways that Kalina drew upon not only her current and past environments, but also those of her family abroad.
