Denise Schmidt

I am a member of the MACC, the Mills Station Arts and Culture Center, the hub of artistic activity in the Rancho Cordova area. The MACC is the “hive” of our arts community, providing a base for local creatives to experiment, learn, and gather, serving as a venue for exhibiting our art, as well as being a source of inspiration from the work of fellow artists in the community.

My medium is textile art, and this contribution to the Honeycomb Project is an example of a traditional Civil War era Log Cabin quilt block, representing hearth and home. The red center represents the hearth, or heart, of the home, surrounded by log shapes representing the structure and walls that support the home, just as the MACC supports our local arts community, and Cheryl Gleason, Art Director at the MACC is its heart.
