My work, "The Transition," explores the messy and imperfect nature of transitioning. During this process, one often feels the weight of scrutiny from others, leading to a sense of alienation and the feeling of being a monster who doesn’t quite fit into society. The feeling of being watched and every move judged by how hard you are playing the gender performance society wants you to play. Each print in this series is as unique as the journey of transitioning itself. They are created using jelly plates and rubber stamps. The imagery of Baba Yaga is incorporated into the prints because, in some versions of her tale, she embodies both the house and the witch, symbolizing a transformation between two forms. I deeply resonate with her story and have chosen her as a representation of trans experiences in this work.
