The Dirty Girls!
We are a group of slightly older women originally brought together by our love of exploring the outdoors, Usually in jeeps or ATVs and occasionally on foot. Thus, we affectionately call ourselves the Dirty Girls.
Later on, our gatherings broadened to get togethers to explore art. As a group, we have dabbled in traditional painting on paper or canvas ,computer generated art, taking local art classes, exploring art galleries, experiencing local musical talent, and now participating in the Honeycomb Project.
Our talents in the art realm range from beginner to art gallery worthy. Our joy comes from being together- sharing, laughing, and trying new things that all lead to that feeling of connection, a treasure in this age of non-personal digital interaction. It is heartwarming as a member of the group to see and experience those with greater artistic talent, mentoring and encouraging those with less natural ability. Our panels are created with either acrylic paint or basic colored pencils.
Our subjects are symbols, all tied to Nevada in some way; A landscape, a native tree or plant, or an animal.
