Laurel De Haven

I have been an artist my entire life and have taught art in the Henderson and Las Vegas area for over twenty years. I love working with many different mediums, especially drawing, painting, ceramics, and glass. Teaching young artists and creating my own work are both important parts of my life, and I enjoy finding inspiration in everyday moments and the world around me.

Art Supply Slot Machine

This acrylic painting shows a different side of Nevada. While our state is known for casinos and slot machines, I wanted to highlight the creativity that also lives here. Instead of traditional symbols, this machine is filled with art supplies. It’s a fun and lighthearted reminder that making art can be just as exciting and rewarding.

Bighorn Sheep

This painting is a tribute to the bighorn sheep that live in Nevada’s desert hills. I was inspired by the groups of sheep often seen in Hemenway Valley Park overlooking Lake Mead in Boulder City. I painted a single bighorn sheep and designed a border around it that follows the spiral shape of its horn, connecting the animal’s form with the flow of the painting.
