"Kid Selfie, 2025"; This piece features a portrait of my 5-year old daughter. The reference image was a selfie photo that she took of herself after stealing my phone this year. She takes hundreds of "surprise" photos. I love finding these photographic gems as they give me insight into her life and how she sees the world.

"Bees Can't Cry, 2025" - I am sure that this work will join many bee paintings inspired by the honeycomb form. Honeybees have always had a special place in my heart since my partner and I built and cared for several hives in our 20s. During this time, I found myself as an advocate for the honeybee - a creature essential for the future of humanity, yet misunderstood, mistaken for other aggressive insects like wasps and hornets. The honeybee, scaled to its comb, appears to be either emerging or retreating. I added drippy eye secretions in light blue, white, and pink. I hope this scared bee helps represent the uncertainty, misunderstanding, and pain that is being held by so many in our communities at this time.
