Samantha Hines
The image explores the divine feminine as a figure that is still and potent. The rays break out from behind her as if nature itself is at her command. She is the master of the light in the storm, she is the storm. She stands in a liminal space, in the world and outside of the world at once. Her sword is still, her power held in reserve. The horned moon is her mystery.
This piece incorporates photography with printmaking. The photo was taken of the turbulent Northern Nevada skies. The figure was carved from linoleum and inked on cotton paper. The moon was hand inked.
