The most influential book I received as a young artist was called “How to See, How to Draw: Keys to Realistic Drawing” by Claudia Nice. I would spend hours flipping through the pages looking at techniques I wouldn’t use until much later in my art journey. But what she did teach me back then was how to see the world around me with an artistic eye, nurturing my love for the beauty of nature and landscapes. From drawing to painting, nature has always been a reoccurring subject of mine. I can only hope to capture a fragment of that beauty in my pieces, but I know it is a subject I will not tire of, whether it be oil, watercolor, ink, or graphite.
