My honeycomb shows the portrait of an owl; this particular owl is a good friend of mine who hangs out at Truckee Meadows Community College, often near the window of the photography class I’m always in. Everytime my owl friend shows up, he gives me an opportunity to connect with the community that attends this school. He will sit on the same branch for hours, no matter how many people I excitedly bring to the window or how many pictures I take, he remains on his branch. His strong sense of peace often brings me peace, as I sit and watch this beautiful bird who has no worries. Pre-Covid, this owl (along with his whole family) lived in the trees outside TMCC, but they had all left when the campus opened up after lockdown. Seeing this owl come back to his home at least once a week has been magical, both for those who had seen the family before, and newcomers alike. This photo was shot on a Sony mirrorless camera through the tinted window of our classroom, then edited for clarity and color correction.
