These honeycomb panels represent a journey of creative reuse and a celebration of the vibrant artistic environment within my classroom. Constructed entirely from discarded Gelli plate prints created by my 5th-grade students, these pieces transform perceived failures into something visually compelling. The rich colors and intricate textures of the original prints are preserved and highlighted within each hexagon. Giving these "rejects" a second life was a deeply satisfying process.

The concept of assembling individual elements into a cohesive whole, mirroring the structure of a honeycomb, provided a compelling framework for this project.

The completed panels serve as a powerful testament to the potential found in unexpected places and the inherent beauty of creative reuse. Sharing the finished pieces with my students offered a valuable lesson in recognizing and appreciating this potential. These panels are more than mere artworks; they are tangible representations of the dynamic creativity that permeates my classroom each day. Transforming discarded materials into something beautiful and meaningful is a process I found both rewarding and inspiring.
