When I came across the prospectus for The Honeycomb Project I immediately knew I wanted to participate, and the theme started the wheels in my mind turning. Essentially, I began to see the similarity of forms amongst diverse beings, which inspired most of my panels. The natural world is where I have always felt most at home; it has been my inspiration forever. I base my life on it, and I welcome the opportunity to express how I view its web of connection, especially in the face of the dangers it is currently facing. Art is the portal to a fully realized life for me and has provided a path for me to both find and express myself. I've been sketching for as long as I can remember but found the courage to explore color only recently. These panels were screen printed using a combination of direct and indirect stencils and acrylic paint. I had never screen printed before but now I find myself breaking images down into the layered process of screen printing. The simplicity of the process and its discrete application of color is such a straightforward format compared to painting!
